Snow? I think I remember snow.
Here’s a link to the Yahoo weather for Carpinteria, California (in Santa Barbara County), where I’ve lived for the past four years: Carpinteria .
Occasionally, some of my neighbors here on the American Riviera grouse about the cold, at this time of year. Whenever that happens, I ask the complaining person for a nickel, telling him or her that I’m taking up a collection to send people like him or her to North Dakota for a visit (to find out how real cold feels).
Oh, and with regard to snowbirds…the ones we see here in southern California drive vehicles with license plates from places like Alaska and British Columbia.
Hmm…when do comments show up?
I find the extreme cold a little easier to handle as the season wears on. The season’s just getting a jump on things this year.
Well, here in Ashburn, VA (a Washington, DC suburb) we got our first tiny taste of winter weather on Saturday night — a 40 minute or so sprinkling of ice. By the morning it was gone though. But while it lasted it was nice watching volume 2 of Mars Daybreak with the sound of ice hitting the living room window.

70 degrees and no snow. My sled is dying of dry-rot.
