Nothing pleases the fans quite like some good ol' fashioned fanservice and innuendo. Or, in the case of both Onegai Teacher and now Onegai Twins, some good ol' fashioned sex. Saddle up!
Seriously, though, this at least helped to neutralize the bad taste left in my mouth by the TV series finale. It was nice to see the whole cast again for one last time...
That is, assuming another sequel isn't planned or in the works...

So Miina isn't family, but she is the one in the photo.
Kind of a lackluster ending, but the more I think about it, it's a satisfying ending. Overall, though, I found the series a bit disappointing. One could commend it for keeping the story focused on a couple of simple themes, but that also meant it grew stagnant with time. All things considered, the middle episodes were pretty frustrating.
Was Onegai Twins better than Onegai Teacher? That's a tough call. As much as I enjoyed Onegai Teacher, Onegai Twins had the more interesting male lead, more realistic characters, and didn't have to fall back on sci-fi clichés to move the story along. We'll just say that both series work well together.

You know, Karen's ten times cuter than Miina. I'm just sayin'...
Anyway, it seems Karen's "the one". But with one episode left, who knows what sort of stunt they'll pull? My guess? Miina is also Maiku's sister, and she already knows it.

The appearance of Miina's old friend didn't present any sort of plot twist after all, but it did make for revelations as far as her backstory is concerned. Thus, it was a nice, dramatic episode. And I don't remember hearing "We might be relatives, or we might be strangers" even once! So, no complaints.
The most important piece of story development (or hint of) comes at the very end, however, as Karen discovers the house in the photo couldn't have been the one they originally lived in. Rather, it's the rotting, empty house across the street.
I always knew she was the smart one.
The next installment of the franchise pairs Karen with a gun-slinging, cybernetic android...together, they solve mysteries and fight crime in deepest, darkest Tokyo. Onegai Tanteidan, coming soon!

So pointless and corny that it hurt.
There was a twist at the end, however, that suggests some true story development may actually take place next episode.
Or, at least, I hope.

Shimazaki and Tsubaki? I would say I'm surprised, but I guess there's been a couple of hints here and there.
Anyway, animation seemed a little weak (particularly character designs), but at least the story is now moving along in a fashion not all that dissimilar from Onegai Teacher. That is, the main characters learn more about themselves through the experiences of those who surround them.
And, as I've seen pointed out elsewhere: whereas Onegai Teacher was about being unable to move, Onegai Twins continues to be about being unable to stop. Interesting how the two shows play with some of the same themes.

Now I want to go to the beach.
Anyway, Miina, Karen, and Maiku head to the beach for summer vacation, and the whole gang shows up. Then, everyone gets wasted.
Oh, and there's Muppets.
This was actually a fun episode, probably because of the greater inclusion of the rest of the cast. My faith in the show is somewhat restored.
And I'm not sure what Matagu's deal is...when he's not pining after his sister, he's falling for little girls. No wonder he never got any in the first series.

Drama episode. In fact, the only thing that made me laugh was this. Well, that and the scene with Miina and Karen in the bath that seemed far too melodramatic. I don't think I was supposed to laugh at that, though.
In some ways, it was a frustrating episode, as it continued to hammer home a point we already know. Yes, you might be relatives or you might not. Yes, it's a weird situation. Now, can we have some story development?
Luckily, it seems like the show may actually be ready to deliver on that request. Whether or not the story will move in a good direction remains to be seen, but at least it seems to start to turn the corner with this episode's "resolution".

They must have blown the animation budget on pizza or something. Anyway, it wasn't all that interesting an episode, so no big deal. At least the supporting cast got more attention than usual.

Poor Karen...
Another great episode. A little bit of backstory, some good humor, and Tsubaki's true nature revealed.

The second episode proved to be just as impressive as the first. It's nice to see Maiku, Miina, and Karen developing a trusting relationship. All in all, some hilarious scenes (the bathroom scene involving Miina and Karen, in particular) and some good dramatic moments.
