Daphne in the Brilliant Blue 06

I think the show has found its groove. The action is fun to watch, and the humor is remarkably witty. It often leaves me laughing out loud, at least.

And there's also hints of a larger plot that could tie everything together at some point. It's just something else to keep me coming back for more.

Daphne in the Brilliant Blue 05

You know, this show is pretty campy, which is probably why I'm enjoying it so much. It's nice to break up the drama with some good ol' action and comedy. It's nothing special, but it's a lot of fun to watch.

Anyway, I'm assuming Yuu is the last major character to be introduced. She has zero personality - for now.

Daphne in the Brilliant Blue 04

I like Gloria. She's very pragmatic.

Daphne in the Brilliant Blue 03

I don't know if I'd trust Maia with a gun just yet. Shizuka looks fairly capable, however.

Kind of a generic episode - and perhaps a better indication of what's to come - but I still enjoyed it. Nothing to write home about, but fun nonetheless. It looks like there's still plenty of backstory to be explored, so I figure it'll hold my interest.

Daphne in the Brilliant Blue 02

OK, I'm sold. As long as it doesn't take a nosedive soon, this looks like it's going to be a really solid show: clever humor, decent action, a hint of drama, good production values, great voice acting, and a compelling setup. And the character designs don't bother me anymore - in fact, I think I'm starting to appreciate their originality.

The costume designs will still take a little bit of getting used to, though. Not because they're so fanservice-oriented, but rather because they're just weird. I'd ponder how exactly the clothing works, but it's probably best if I don't think about it too much...

Daphne in the Brilliant Blue 01

Someone get those women some clothes!

I generally don't go for this sort of fanservice, nor do I generally go for action shows. And the character designs are kind of funky. But yet, I really enjoyed this episode, and if everything is indeed setting up the way I suspect it will, it could be an interesting series. And being a J.C. Staff show, it sure looks pretty.

I'm not sold yet, but I'll definitely watch a couple more episodes.
