I find it rather amusing that this episode sets out to provide the necessary backstory of how Rentarou (hereby known as, "The Pimp") came to enjoy the company of Sara and Souju (hereby known as...well, I won't go there), yet - in the end - didn't explain squat. Intentional or not, I got a laugh out of that.
Anyway, the pace is considerably slower in this episode compared to the initial installment. That's just the sort of change I was looking for.
Oh, and the soda can missiles were a nice touch. I actually noticed them the very first time I watched that particular scene, as if I were already expecting the gag. Weird.
The soda can missiles are an old, old, gag, going back to project A-ko, and reused since - but these are considerably more obvious that most, with no need to go frame by frame to find them.
Exactly. It's such an old gag that I was prepared for it. Still, it's nice to see a new show pay homage like that.
Another awesome episode, I can only hope this keeps up. And while this episode was slower than the first action wise, they sure switched from one story to another pretty fast in my opionion. My mind needed a couple of hours to proccess it all. :p
The scene where Rentarou sings in the public bath was really something. I've watched that scene so many times and it still cracks me up ^o^.
I liked the part where Rentarou lies under the sun with the twins. They didn't answer him when he told them to go on a date but their silence and the look in their eyes spoke volumes. I also like the "megane" touch ^_^
I didn't understand the part about the UFO. Did any of you guys understand that part? Did he really see a UFO?
I'm not sure but I think I saw 2 people standing on top of the high chimney in the last scene of the episode. Was it Lala and Lulu?
A great episode, even better than the first. Well, I did laugh. Oddly enough, the scene I best remember is when they tried to eat Sara's cooking... :D It's interesting how this show juggles between hyper-active scenes (jokes usually) and very slow ones (lying down in the sun).
The ufo, I don't really get it either, but the creator of this show is UFOtable, so it is at least an indirect reference. :)
(episode 3 is out now too)
