I'm going to break from the ranks and say that I wasn't quite as impressed with this first episode as most of my anime blogging brothers. The show is cool, no doubt, but I was hoping for slick and stylish ROD TV "cool", not gonzo FLCL "cool". Of course, expectations are meant to be shattered, so my initial opinion of the show may be entirely inconsequential. A second viewing could be all it takes for me to change my tune.
But, even though I found myself wishing the show would slow down and be just a little less spastic, I have to admit it did spastic very, very well. The cast is delightfully eccentric, the humor perfectly timed, and the action fast-paced and engaging. The animation is pretty involved, although the comic style resulted in some overly-simplified moments in certain scenes - moments that I wish had been presented in more detail. Unfortunately, the opening scene with Lulu and Lala (kicking ass and taking names) was animated in that sort of fluid, slow-motion, physics-be-damned style that drives me up the wall. I hope we don't see too much of that in later episodes.
I'm going to continue watching, of course - I want to see what sort of treats UFOtable has to offer. Sara and Souju being absolutely adorable (and, in some ways, a little scary) has absolutely nothing to do with it. Honest.
I was very much pleasently surprised by Futakoi Alternative, especially after the terrible first series (that is even terrible compared to other harem shows). Easily the best show of the new season. ufotable has done no wrong yet according to me after animation on Dokkoida and the amusing Ninin. Futakoi blows the other two out of the water, though.
I love Sara~
has this been subbed yet?
one of my mates said that every1 is raving about this because the original was so bad
I never watched the original so I'll just have to wait and see if this is as good as everyone says it is

Just saw the sub of this - and it blew me away.
It has a real cool vibe to it, much like Tarantino's Kill Bill if anyone has seen that?
Wow, can i say " What the H#!!??" I thought this was going to be a continuing storyline of the first series. Boy was I wrong. I liked the first series even though I thought that Nozumu should have chosen a girl by the end. Anyways, I have some issues with certain people's exposure.. (I must be getting more conservative). I guess im disturbed cause the first season was much more innocent. Bottom line though is that I like this first new episode.
finally got around to watching this
Kill Bill? it felt more like a wacky anime version of Snatch :p
lets hope the rest of the series is as good as ep1
Once I heard all the raving about this, I went and marathoned the first series; the first series had it's moments (the third to last and penultimate eps), but the last episode left such an indecicive and bitter taste in my mouth that I almost didn't bother downloading this.
All I can say is that that would have been one of the biggest mistakes I've made in awhile. After watching 7 hours streight of standard harem drama BS, this was just what I needed to draw myself out of the angst.
Brilliant.
I watched it because everyone was raving about it, and I was left unimpressed. Yes, it's full of spastic action sequences, but the humor just didn't get to me. I loved the movie Snatch, and this was inferior to it in every way.
Honestly the only appealing parts of this episode to me were the brief split second fanservice moments that almost made me pause to make sure I was seeing what I was seeing, heh.
I guess i'll have to chalk this one up to something only mainstream anime fans would enjoy, because I typically enjoy slice of life, drama, mystery, and romance stuff. I do like some action stuff, i'm a huge Gantz fan and I enjoyed Samurai Champloo and Read or Die OVA, but the action in Futakoi Alternative was nothing innovative and pretty bland.
