Koi Kaze 13 (Final)

I guess I should take some time and collect my thoughts regarding the ending, but I fear it's useless. It is what it is. It's an ending. Or, at least, it's a stopping point. For all I know, they could both get hit by a bus the next day.

And for that reason, I'm going to abstain from characterizing this as a "happy" ending. The fact that everything is smiles and lollipops in the end doesn't change what happened. Ultimately, nothing was resolved. And, if you pay close attention, there are signals of what's to come. The tree at the amusement park on which they carved their names? It's not long for this world. The reaction of Nanoka's classmates? The damage has been done. Thoughts of suicide? They'll return.

This is by no means a happy story, and I think the show manages to make that point in the end, subtle and understated as it may be. That's how I prefer to interpret it, at least.

Why? Because the alternative is just too damn absurd.

I wonder if I should go and watch this show. I saw the first two episodes, but then stopped keeping up on it. But reading about it here and other places, it seems like it was watching a train wreck happen.

Eh, its a happy ending if you dont overanalyze.

Well... dont have much else to say, but:

(Koushirou): I love you... I love you!

Mango | July 1, 9:30 PM

What can I say... expect it was an excellent anime even though the issues were really controversial. However I think the ending is very much unresolved, Nanoka's friend (can't remember her name) from what she says I think she guessed who Nanoka was with. Uhmmm...wonder if they will make an OVA ?

Anonymous | July 2, 8:58 AM

There was some funny discussion at some of the forums I was at, and yeah, they'd like to see an OVA... the Hentai OVA, LOL.

But, more seriously, the anime goes from vol. 1-5 of the manga (With vol 5 not yet finished). I dont know if its still on-going or if vol 5 is the last...

Mina | July 4, 6:58 AM

I also think it wasn't a happy ending...Nanoka's School Mate guessed and the amusemant park with the trees is to be destroyed...or at least the trees.
Actually I thought they would let Nanoka or Koushiro die in the last episode, so the problem would be solved!

Alex O'C | July 9, 2:23 AM

My god...

I loved this anime. So much.

I'm exteremely happy with the ending, for both it's "sticking to it's guns" and not copping out by having them break up due to conventions, or one dieing, etc. No, I'm also happy with the dark undertones, and the forboding atmosphere that continued throughout.

If their relationship is, in fact, "true love," then I have no problem with it - I have no use for taboo that are solely created for evolutionary purposes, and do not have basis in logic or fact. As long as they don't have kids, it's fine.

Regardless, this may be the most powerful anime I've seen to date (up there with saikano) and it will continue to be one of my favorites for long to come.

MHOOO | July 13, 3:51 PM

Well, as for me - I totally agree with Alex O'C.
Koi Kaze is truly one of the best Anime I've seen so far (well - in my opinion it might even be better than Saikano =) ).
As for the ending, I really liked it - and while I heard the last words of Kyo, my eyes just suddenly started to shed tears. I was just overwhelmed by the love both of them seemed to share - just like the "true love" thing :!).

In the end its a really awesome romantic drama =).

The Riddle | August 17, 11:07 PM

Well.. Heyo!

So, now i have seen the series two times and i still think it's a good anime serie. There is only one thing i don't understand, why they say: "Let's meet again, every year. It's a promise , righy?", and then they walks away from eachother? Do they brake up or what? I think they do? I don't know? Anyway, i think it's a recommended series that not only anime fans should see, but also "regular" people :D

Well... Gotta go! See ya! Or: Let's meet again, every year. It's a promise right? :D
