Midori no Hibi 13 (Final)

Well, the events of the final episode played out almost exactly as I expected. I don't know if I should be happy about that, though. After all, it means the ending was very predictable.

But it was cute, and it was fitting, so who cares?

I think my overall opinion of the show has been buoyed by the final set of episodes. Early on, I wasted a lot of energy bemoaning the show's hackneyed approach to dramatic storytelling, and while I think that criticism still holds water, the drama of the final few episodes was far more palatable - mostly because the story was moving along at a respectable pace. The comedic moments will always remain my favorite part of the show, but the drama of the finale didn't disappoint.

And, in the end, I find myself liking Midori - although, I can't help but wonder if it's big Midori I like most as a character, even if she did get very little screen time in the end. Her final confession of love was adorable, what with her stumbling and near inability to get the words out, followed up with the perfect, understated response from Seiji. If you ask me, it made Ayase's earlier confession seem rather "been there, done that". In anime, confessions are a dime a dozen, so it's always nice to see one done just a little bit differently.

Anyway, it was a cute show. Nothing too terribly special, but cute. I enjoyed it.

I agree with your analysis of the show. In the middle it started to drag a little bit, but overall I think the final episode saved the series. I'll probably remember Midori no Hibi as better than it actually was, just because the final episode was so cute and perfect =).

huaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa T_T

why it end up here ? why why why whyyyy ???????

there so much character in manga that even didnt have indroduce in anime, how come it end ?????

I think that the point about liking big Midori is a good one.

Midori no Hibi featured one of the best ending sequences in anime. (The normal ending, not the final ending which was only good for the damn cat.) I think the show is really about how ending-Midori + hand-Midori becomes the big-Midori in the final episode.

And it really should have been longer, but 26 episodes may have been pushing it. Too bad there's no such thing as a 19 episode series.

SLAP!

Well, it's good to know at least one person got the joke...

I hated the ending. I cried during the Ayase part. I guess my odd mind expected that Ayase would miraculously end up with Seiji and rejecting the fact that it was unlikely.

I need to go to terrible anime ending rehab. =_=;;

Nooh! Were this one of them H-sims, this would be the Bad Ending. One of the things making it bad is that it was entirely predictable. Of course, I am biased seeing I never liked Midori's character, either her hyper-genki 'hand mode' or real-size one with her Issues. I could go on why I felt she never quite deserver the ending, but bleh. I feel for Ayase, she got robbed, and we are not even shown how she really felt about the rejection.

Bummer I was so loving this series.
I been reading the Funsubed manga and man if you laid this out right you could ealy of made a 26 epi, they already into a 6th manga and the 13 epi show did not much justice man i wanted to see the crazy doctor and the duaghter and the americain chick come into the show.. there is so much more funny part in the manga we and I would of like to see.

Hi,

I just found your site. I found that your critique of the show was right on, except that I didn't think that the show dragged. I figured out how it was going to end, bt did anyone think that she could stay his right hand forever??

Alice
