Interesting. I don't think the story is necessarily any better told from Nanoka's point of view, but it's refreshing to hear her thoughts for a change.
The story is definitely moving along now, with Nanoka realizing her own feelings for Koushirou. As much as that development should leave one feeling uncomfortable, I can't help but get a kick out of the direction in which the story is headed. As a work of fiction, it's rather intriguing.
i just saw episode 8 of it :P
its really turning out interesting.
i wonder what they'll do
will they actually make love or will it be dramaticly ended in some other way.
we'll see in episode 9 and further :P
If you read the manga you'll realise that they don't actually sleep together but they do 'fall in love'. However I don't know how they will finish the anime since the manga hasn't finished yet?
i always read manga after i saw the tv serie :)
i always read manga after i saw the tv serie :)
and most of the time anime series are shorter than the manga
or stuff is cut out =/
and in the manga stories goes on and stops earlier in the anime
Just out of curiousity, how do you think this series compares with "DC Da Capo"?
Both shows have incestual overtones, but was wondering whether KoiKaze does a better job at legitamizing such a taboo relationship.
As a side note, it's rather disturbing to see that this theme is so popular in anime . . . **;
Compared to Da Capo, Koi Kaze seems far more "serious". This is more or less because, in Da Capo, Nemu and Junichi weren't biological siblings. That, and the tone just seems different.
I should mention that the theme doesn't really bother me in any way. It makes for an interesting story. But, I've never been one to view anime as social commentary.
yea koi kaze is far more serious than Da Capo
however Da Capo was scary sometimes lol
thanks to that little blond girl messing with powers she shouldnt mess with XD
Whoa, thanks for the fast response (^_^)
But, with regard to the last post, don't you think it's a bit creepy that a significant amount of venture capital would be poured into an analysis of incest? Seriously, just what demographic is this show aimed at?
If this was an isolated occurance, I guess it would have been acceptable (just for the shock value itself), but it's rather suprising to see that incest as a thematic center can be found not only in Koi Kaze, but also in Da Capo and err, Love Hina.
Granted, anime is an excellent venue for social expression, but still, isn't incest beyond the pale? I'm really new to anime (only started this January), so perhaps I'm missing something . . .
Da Capo isnt incest i think
b/c Nemu wasnt really his sister
she was his childhood friend but she moved in with him when her parents died
however Koi Kaze is incest... i dont really care
but they didnt see each other for like 10 years so they dont really know each other ... its almost the same as you find the girl of your dreams
that guy is having alot of pain because he found out she was his sister (1st episode ending)
because he liked her from the beginning he saw her
if you love someone already and you find out she's your sister you'll be hurt very bad
unless she loves you back :P

Anyway, as to whether or not I find it creepy how incest themes pop up so often in anime, I'd have to say "not really". Modern entertainment has a tendency to explore all manner or sexual taboo - it's just that the incest taboo is one Western audiences are rarely exposed to. Do Japanese audiences have fewer hang-ups regarding incest? Beats me. I'm not Japanese.
Of course, rarely are such incestuous relationships in anime actually consummated, which raises the question: should we truly call it "incest"? Seems like there'd be a big difference between "incest" and "potential incest" in the creepiness department.
I think the issue with these types of anime is the Japanese way of tackling a controversial topic, a way to have the 'fantasy' without the consequence, a form where they can explore such ideas without too much negativity.
The ever popular incest theme....perhaps we should put the setting somewhere in Oklahoma instead and how well it fares? :D no offense but it might receive just a slightly less lukewarm response
