This Ugly and Beautiful World 04

Akari rocks! Kimi rocks! In fact, the whole cast rocks - with the exception of Hikari, who has about as much personality as a toaster oven. Is she really the focus of the show?
I never would have thought I'd grow so attached to this show, but I have. Of everything I'm watching right now, it's what I look forward to new episodes of most. Even though nothing of consequence has truly happened yet, I'm hooked.
It's still my belief that Hikari is the Big Evil or source of prime conflict disguising itself in the "cute girlfriend from space". Come on, what was with that creepy laugh from her and the ensuing off-stage giant-bug destruction at the end of Episode 1 (around 20:17 if you go by the A-E & A-Keep sub)? Still gives me shudders.
Hikari is EVIL! She's going to Moonlight Butterfly humanity into extinction.
Oh, and Kimi rocks. She somehow manages to come off as both Bi and Incestuous. I guess we know why Ryou had little interest in girls till Akari showed up.
Akari > Hikari
Kimi > Mari
Ryou > Takeru
Oh, and I see you have started using rollover comments.
AWESOME, I love those for some reason.
Yeah, I kept coming up with all these witty comments for screenshots over time, so I figured I should start sharing. After all, everyone else does.
Hey! Don't bring toaster ovens into this! j/k
For the record I'd like to state that my toaster oven has a FAR better personality than Hikari.
Though Psycho pissed off Hikari seems to have some potential, we haven't seen enough of that side to say for certain.
What 'rolling text' are you guys talking about? Are you talking about 'alt text'? They are supposed to be in every single photographs that are shown on a website these days to help the visually impaired people. I used to be lazy to do it but then there was a site who got sued by a visually impaired person for not providing 'alt text' and I think everyone in the web industry starts to use them from then on.
This site isn't subject to Americans with Disabilities Act requirements, however, so whether or not I include alt tags for accessibility reasons is up to me.
Is that requirements originally started from the US? Because the site that I mentioned was actually an Australian site. Do you know how one can one be exempted from the requirements apart from being on the right Geographical location?
Anyway, I just saw this episode as well and I think that Hikari is simply playing nice and dull to deceive everyone. I can't wait until she reveals her true selves. But it's always possible that she will turn out to be dull and the true villain is actually Akari.
Well, Hikari and Akari are the same insidious-yellow-shooting-star-thing, really, but split in two for no apparent reason. I think perhaps, since the whole "extinction" thing was going on in the first episode, that the two of them exist to judge whether races deserve to exist or be exterminated. One will see the "ugliness" of the world, and the other the "beauty", maybe. So either Gainax will merge them both and have them destroy the world in a typical weird-ass ending, or (hopefully) Ryou/Akari will see the "beauty" of the world and have to convince Takeru/Hikari not to destroy it (Takeru shouldn't take that much convincing after the "sympathy for the bug" bit in episode 1).
Or maybe I'm hoping for too much out of this series. Damn that opening sequence for making it look so much more interesting than it has been so far!
Ack... if you're going to put text for the images, could you at least mirror it onto a title tag? I don't care to pull up image properties for each to find out what it says x_x
Starcreator: My bad. I forgot that not all browsers handle alt tags the same way. I switched to using title tags.
Sorry, but comments for this post are now closed.
