Ah, there we go. The comedy returns.
One thing that's starting to concern me about the show is the importance it places on having everything "resolved", so to speak, at the end of each episode. There's nothing wrong with that, but it leaves me wondering how much the story will develop over the course of the series. With the manga still running, I don't expect a very definitive ending, but I hope the show goes somewhere - or at least spices up Seiji and Midori's lives a little along the way.
But, we're only four episodes in, so perhaps my worries are premature.
I shared your worries about the ending EXACTLY. However, if you look at the blog entry of Memento, it seems that everything will be right. Without spoiling too much, in manga chapter 74, something irreversible happens which will probably trigger the final resolution. So maybe they'll be able to end the anime at the same time as the manga. Which would be PERFECT.
If I really think about it, I supposed the author can still stretched the plot out if he wants to do so. But I hope that the series will end before it gets tired and old. And I think what the mangaka has done in chapter 72 and 74 is a good step towards ensuring that the series end while it's still interesting.
