There was less emphasis on comedy and more emphasis on plot this time around, but the show still performed well. So, it's no one-trick pony. Not that I was worried, but it's nice to know.
The scene between Seiji and Midori's mother struck me as being a bit strange, however. It just seemed a little unnatural for a mother to know so much about her daughter's love life. And given the apparent social status of Midori's family, wouldn't her mother be a little concerned about her daughter having a crush on a juvenile delinquent such as Seiji?
Of course, given how that particular scene played out, I'm sure she's plenty concerned now...

I really hope this series holds its own as well as it has in the first two episodes. As bizarre as the premise is, it's managed to be tender, sweet, and laugh-out-loud-long-and-hard funny. That scene in episode 2... it's so "Three's Company" but I'm still laughing. I can't wait for the next episode!
It seems like Midori and her mom are really close. The only thing I didn't quite get about the episode is...
*spoiler alert*
... why Midori kept it secret. Seems to me that MORE pain is inflicted with the unknown-ness rather than the reality, regardless of how odd. Well, I guess it's consistent for Japanese sensibilities and it DOES keep the plot going. I expect some third person (or more) will become part of the secret-sharers club in the next episode.
